Silver Discoverer
About Silver Discoverer
Silver Discoverer is a perfect ship on which to enjoy an expedition cruise in the Asia-Pacific region. Offering highly-detailed itineraries from The Kimberley in Western Australia to the Russian Far East, Silver Discoverer combines an all-inclusive onboard experience with an incredible programme of excursions.
A small-scale ship with capacity for just 124 discerning travellers, Silver Discoverer is noted for her shallow draft which allows her to navigate closer to shore. This nimble ability, combined with her fleet of 12 Zodiacs, makes reaching landing zones a straightforward task. In addition to the Zodiacs, Silver Discoverer is equipped with a glass-bottom boat which is great for getting an underwater perspective and particularly useful when exploring regions where the marine life is plentiful. For independent discovery, guests are also permitted full use of the ship’s snorkelling equipment.
Silver Discoverer offers a choice of five different sized suites. These range from the comfortable Explorer Suite which has two porthole windows, to the grand Medallion Suite which boasts its own private teak veranda. The three middle categories consist of View Suites, Vista Suites and Veranda Suites. All of the accommodation on Silver Discoverer is spacious and decorated in a pleasing blend of light woods and cream upholstery. You will also find they are generously furnished with a queen size beds, writing desks, a seating area, an entertainment station and en suite bathrooms equipped with a bath/shower.
There are two dining venues on Silver Discoverer. The ship’s main dining room, The Restaurant, offers glorious ocean views courtesy of large panoramic windows and serves contemporary cuisine with a variety of menu choices. Here you can enjoy buffet-style options at breakfast and lunch, while dinner in the evening is served à la carte.
Silver Discoverer’s secondary dining venue, The Grill, offers a more laid-back environment and represents a great alternative should you be looking for tasty grilled fish, meat, pizza and pasta. In the evening there is also the option to enjoy fresh seafood and steak grilled at your table on volcanic plates!
While onboard, there are a variety of public areas aboard Silver Discoverer which offer plenty of space for rest and relaxation. The Explorer Lounge is the ship’s main inside hub and can be seen as the ship’s headquarters for guests. This is where the daily briefings, lectures and recaps take place before you head ashore and it provides a great environment in which to meet and catch-up with fellow guests. In the evening, the Explorer Lounge is transformed into a classy cocktail bar, complete with the accompaniment of the ship’s resident piano player.
There is also a Day Lounge where you can pick up snacks, help yourself to coffee and sit back to watch the passing scenery in comfortable chairs. However, if you’re seeking sun and a gentle breeze, then at the rear of the ship’s deck you will find a reasonably sized pool which offers respite from the tropical heat (it’s worth noting Silver Discoverer is the only ship of it’s kind with a pool currently operating in the Asia-Pacific region).
Other public areas include a beauty salon and a fitness centre.
