Scenic Eclipse
About Scenic Eclipse
Scenic Eclipse is a new expedition vessel and is claimed to be ‘The World’s First Discovery Yacht’. Boasting capacity for 228 guests, Scenic Eclipse offers itineraries in remote regions such as Antarctica and the Arctic as well as more traditional cruise destinations like the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
Scenic Eclipse has been purpose-built for adventure and is equipped with a range of impressive expedition facilities. Like many ships of this nature, she has a fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks which, weather permitting, are used throughout each voyage for excursions and shore landings. Located on her heliport, Scenic Eclipse has two six-seat helicopters. These give guests the opportunity to travel further inland to enjoy sights and wildlife normally only seen by intrepid explorers.
Most impressively, Scenic Eclipse even has her own submarine – there’s simply no better way to see polar bears or penguins than enjoying a front row, underwater seat.
The accommodation aboard Scenic Eclipse is divided between four styles of suite; Veranda Suites, Spa Suites, Panorama Suites and Owner’s Penthouse Suites. In contrast to many expedition ships, Scenic Eclipse’s accommodation really does exude luxury. With no expense spared when it comes to the decor, furnishings or facilities, you can expect spacious living quarters, king-sized slumber beds and beautiful en-suite bathrooms.
Another touch of luxury is the 500 square feet Sanctuary Spa. Featuring a jacuzzi, and a heated pool with a retractable roof, the spa is more in-keeping with something you might find in one of the world’s most sophisticated boutique hotels. Similarly, there are six separate dining venues on Scenic Eclipse with enough choice and variation to suite all palettes. Particularly recommended is Koko’s – an Asian-fusion restaurant and Elements, the ship’s main dining venue which serves up delicious steak and seafood with an Italian twist. You also have the option to dine outside alfresco-style, or in your suite, courtesy of 24-hour room service.
In order to protect the environment and further preserve the natural beauty of the places she visits, Scenic Eclipse is equipped with a state-of-the-art dynamic position system which allows her to be held in place without the use of a traditional anchor. She also has an onboard water treatment plant and efficient low impact engines.
