RV Angkor Pandaw
About RV Angkor Pandaw
RV Angkor Pandaw was built in Vietnam, originally for expeditions on the Mekong River, but was repositioned on the Red River in North Vietnam in 2015 and has remained there ever since. A small ship in terms of capacity, RV Angkor Pandaw caters for just 32 guests and is the perfect choice for couples and solo travellers.
RV Angkor Pandaw operates a series of unique itineraries, all of which have been designed to provide guests with an in-depth experience. Sailing deep into Highland Vietnam, you will enjoy trips to isolated mountain communities and a variety of tribal areas. Thanks to her shallow draft, RV Angkor Pandaw is able to travel as far as is navigable up the Song Red River as well as down the little-known Da or Black River.
Due to the changeable weather in the regions, RV Angkor Pandaw’s expeditions are somewhat fluid and can change course daily. As such – and to avoid too much disruption – an alternative itinerary is offered between December and March which covers a larger inland area on North Vietnam’s coastal plain.
A local tour guide accompanies RV Angkor Pandaw on all of her expeditions and they are present to provide insight and an educational perspective to the places you will visit. The excursion programme aims to deliver trips ashore each day, with any applicable admission charges included. Highlights include walking tours of downtown Hanoi, kayaking through the limestone caves around Halong Bay and visiting the UNESCO village of Duang Lam.
After returning from a day of exploring ashore, a shoe cleaning service is offered, along with cold towels and refreshing cold drinks.
The accommodation onboard RV Angkor Pandaw is as opulent as you might expect; lovingly furnished and resplendent with teak and brass finishes. There are 16 staterooms in total, six of which can be found on the Upper Deck, with the remaining ten on the Main Deck. All of the accommodation is equipped with panoramic French windows, climate control units and a private bathroom. You will also receive a welcome gift upon arrival, as well as your very own kimono and slippers.
RV Angkor Pandaw has one main dining room where all meals throughout your expedition will be served. During breakfast and lunch you can help yourself to a variety of hot and cold buffet options, while the evening meal is served by course-by-course at your table. All of the ingredients used by the chefs onboard RV Angkor Pandaw are locally sourced and fresh and add another dimension to your Asian experience.
The public areas on RV Angkor Pandaw include a shop, observation deck, library, bar and open-air lounge.
