Discover two iconic world wonders during an extra-ordinary itinerary that combines

ancient and modern-day Peru and Ecuador.

With just 26 staterooms and suites, this elegant small ship cruise-tour includes 5-
nights aboard the intimate and yacht-like National Geographical Islander 2, purpose
built to operate in the most precious waters around the Galapagos.

Commence your journey in Lima, a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE DESIGNATED CITY
before flying up to Cusco where you will dive through the Scared Valley before
driving onward to Ollantaytambo, to join the train to fabled Machu Pichu.

You then retrace your steps to Cusco then fly on to Ecuador and Guayaquil before
heading on to Baltra on Santa Cruz Island, to join your Galapagos sailing.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Lima, Peru
Meals Included: No Meals

Arrive from London and transfer to the Wyndham Costa del Sol at the airport. We recommend adding in an extra night in Lima to get over the longhaul flight from London and have an opportunity to explore Lima for yourself, in which case you will stay at the luxurious Country Club Lima Hotel.
Day 2 - Cusco
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After an early morning flight to Cusco, you will head to Chinchero in the Sacred Valley where National Geographical will include a special lunch guest and local craft demonstration before travelling onward to Tambo del Inka for a two night stay.
Day 3 - To the Lost City of the Incas

In the morning we head to the town of Ollantaytambo, the rail head for the train to Machu Picchu. Sitting at 2450 metres elevation, high in the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu was for many years thought to have been constructed around 1450 but radiocarbon dating has placed the construction a century earlier. A haven of birdlife and extraordinary flora, the ruins are truly a wonder of the world. Your tour will stay on after day-trippers depart with a first-class dinner being served on the sunset train back down to the valley.
Day 4 - To Cusco
Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch

An early start for cosmopolitan Cusco where ancient and modern sit side by side including the 17th Century colonial-built cathedral and the Inca Sun Temple. With a great food scene, no organised dinner is included allowing guests to choose their own supper venue.
Day 5 - Hop, skip and a jump to Guayaquil

We head to Ecuador today, flying via Lima to Guayaquil for a one-night stay.
Day 6 - 9 - To the expedition yacht National Geographical Islander 2
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Morning transfer to the airport for the hop to Batra on Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos at the start of your five-night voyage of discovery. Visit Santa Fe Island famed for its iguanas and cacti, and discover sealions on Plaza Sur. At Sullivan Bay on Santiago penguins are camouflaged by the black lave sands, while the inviting clear waters at Sombrero Chino are a snorkelling paradise. Sail across the Equator to Genovesa where the flooded caldera is a seabird paradise
Day 10 - To the mainland
Meals Included: Breakfast

Head to the airport and then fly to Quito; hotel accommodation is available overnight for those not departing on late-night aircraft . where we thoroughly recommend adding a three-night/four-day visit to Quito and the Andean Village of Otavalo (at additional cost). Quito is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
Day 11 - Journey homeward

For those not returning to the UK late the previous evening, there are group transfers to the airport today.
