Le Boreal
About Le Boreal
Le Boreal is a 264 capacity ship offering a variety of voyages in several of the world’s most remote regions. She is primarily owned by the French cruise line, Ponant Cruises. Le Boreal is more of a luxury yacht than a ‘typical’ expedition ship, she is comfortable, elegant and a great choice for couples, solo travellers and experienced explorers who want to upgrade their onboard experience without compromising on the opportunities that an expedition cruise allows.
Owing to Ponant Cruises’ dedication to the highest standards of environmentally-friendly performance, she has been awarded the international Green Label.
Le Boreal is equipped with a fleet of 12 Zodiac boats which can be deployed at a moment’s notice and allow easy access to protected bays and remote inlets, weather permitting. Every trip ashore is accompanied by Le Boreal’s team of Naturalist Guides who will lead small groups on hikes, nature walks and excursions to places of historical and natural significance.
The ship’s theatre, French Line, doubles as a lecture room during the day and hosts a packed programme of guest lectures which serve to really enhance your expedition experience. The theatre is also the venue for pre-excursion briefings as well as recaps once you have returned to the ship.
The accommodation on Le Boreal is comprised of three main categories; Standard Staterooms, Deluxe Staterooms and Prestige Suites. All categories offer outside views, king-size or twin beds, climate control, TV/DVD players and ensuite bathrooms. The largest of the accommodation grades, the Prestige Suites, are immaculately furnished and boast a private veranda and a separate sitting area.
Le Boreal offers two main dining venues. The first of these, The Gastronomic Restaurant, is the ship’s primary restaurant and serves buffet-style fare during breakfast and lunch. Evening meals are à la carte and consist of regionally and internationally influenced gourmet cuisine with vegetarian options available should they be required. The restaurant is an open-seating venue which means you can dine when – and with whom – you wish.
The second dining venue is The Grill, which represents a great alternative if you are looking for a more informal option. Specialising in both hot and cold buffet options, the venue has indoor and outdoor seating with fresh fish and meat available from the grill.
While Le Boreal is not awash with entertainment options, guests can enjoy evening performances in the theatre or head to the bar for pre or post-dinner drinks. There is also an onboard spa where you can enjoy treatments and massages for an additional charge.
Other facilities on Le Boreal include a fitness centre, a library, two pools and full-service salon.
